Overview — English
Candidasa is a peaceful coastal resort town in the Karangasem Regency. While it was once renowned for its beaches, coastal erosion and the construction of sea walls mean that wide, sandy stretches are now limited. Nevertheless, Candidasa remains highly popular as a highly convenient and relaxing basecamp for exploring the wonders of East Bali.
The town's most iconic landmark is the Lotus Lagoon (Taman Bunga Teratai), a massive pond situated right off the main road, bursting with blooming pink and fuchsia lotus flowers. The lagoon is entirely free to visit. Many travelers choose to stay in Candidasa because of its strategic location—it offers superb oceanfront dining, complete tourist facilities, and easy access to major attractions like the traditional village of Tenganan, Taman Ujung, Tirta Gangga, and Goa Lawah Temple.
